Disqualification case of Th Shyamkumar : Final hearing fixed on Feb 4

The Speaker's Tribunal of the Manipur Legislative Assembly has fixed February 4 for final hearing of the dis-qualification case of Th Shyamkumar.
Notably, Th Shyam-kumar was elected on Congress candidate but he switched allegiance soon after the results of the last State Assembly elections were announced in March 2015 and has been supporting the coalition Government led by Chief Minister N Biren.
After 15 petitioners lodged petitions seeking disqualification of Shyamkumar under the anti- defection law, a disqualification case has been pending at the Speaker's Tribunal for a protracted period.
Recently, the Supreme Court issued a ruling asking the Speaker's Tribunal to decide the disqualification case within four weeks.
A copy of the apex Court's ruling was submitted to the Speaker's Tribunal by Supreme Court senior Advocate SG Hasnain at Imphal on January 25 .
Senior Advocate SG Hasnain has been representing two petitioners namely; K Meghachandra and Md Fazur Rahim who are both Congress MLAs.
Whereas the final hearing has been fixed at 10.30 am of February 4, all concerned parties have been informed to submit additional documents, if they wish to, during office hours of February 3 .
Th Shyamkumar is a Cabinet Minister in the BJP-led coalition Government and he is in-charge of MAHUD and Forest & Environment departments.
On the other hand, final hearing of the disqualification case filed at the Speaker's Tribunal against seven other Congress MLAs who have been supporting the BJP-led coalition Government has been fixed at 10.30 am of February 11 .
The seven Congress MLAs in question are Sanasam Bira (Kumbi AC), Oinam Lukhoi (Wangoi AC), Ngamthang Haokip (Saitu AC), Ksh Biren (Lamlai AC), P Brojen (Wangjing-Tentha AC), Y Surchandra (Kakching AC) and Ginsuanhau (Singhat AC) .
It is said that the concerned parties of this disqualification may submit additional documents during office hours on February 7 .
Incidentally, all the seven Congress MLAs have been sitting on Opposition bench in the State Assembly even though they have been supporting the BJP-led coalition Government.
