Kpi DC distributes ePOS devices

Kangpokpi, January 30 2020:
To bring transparency, exclude errors and address unsettled issues of distribution of PDS items under National Food Security Act (NFSA) in the State, electronics Point of Sales (ePOS) devices were distributed to the agents of Fair Price Shops of Kangpokpi District today.
The ePOS were distributed by DC Kangpokpi, Lalithambigai Kalidas during an e-POS machines distribution cum training program of FPS agents of Kangpokpi District at Multipurpose Hall, DC Complex, Kangpokpi.
The electronics Point of Sales machines were distributed to all the FPS agents of Saikul, Saitu and Kangpokpi Assembly Constituency.
Hundreds of people including FPS agents of the three constituencies attended the function.
Vahneilhing Singson, District Supply Officer, CAF&PD, Kangpokpi, while delivering the keynotes address, said that the introduction of e-POS in the district will definitely bring transparency and streamline the distribution of PDS items to the beneficiaries and with the help of the system, fake and bogus ration cards could be identified easily besides minimizing chances of committing errors in the distribution.
She continued that ensuring food security for every member of the community has been one of the biggest needs in the district and the Consumer Affairs Food and Public Distribution Department of the district is always committed to meeting those needs.
She also said that with the introduction of electronics Point of Sales (e-POS) the biometric system to each cardholder issued by concerned department will be able to get the allotted food grains from the Fair Price Shop without any middleman or broker.
The District Supply Officer further said, "it is a crucial step towards promoting accountability and transparency by eliminating bogus and ineligible cardholders and we hope that the consumer-friendly and new system would bring an effective distribution of food grains through Public Distribution System (PDS) in the district" .
"I am deeply inspired to see so many of us today with the same vision putting maximum efforts to build up the district and the department is looking forward to bringing more positive changes for its people", she added.
DC Kangpokpi, Lalithambigai Kalidas and Salam Siddhartha Singh, SPMU, CAF&PD, Manipur also spoke on the occasion.
The function culminated with a vote of thanks from Phalpichong Hangshing, Inspector, CAF&PD, Kangpokpi.
