Killers of KYKL man arrested

New Delhi, March 18 2015: Two men who had allegedly shot dead the leader of a militant group operating in Manipur during the latter's stay in Delhi in 2008 and were also wanted in another murder case by Chhattisgarh police have been arrested by the Crime Branch of Delhi police.

The accused, identified as Satender Kumar alias Tinu (33) and Pritam Kumar (36) were arrested from Dwarka following a tip off.

"Both of them were wanted in a case of murder of Amanaka in Raipur, Chhattisgarh since 2011 and cash reward of Rs 15000 each was declared on their arrest.

Satender Kumar was also involved in murder of one O Juge Singh alias Wangba Khuman, an extremist and leader of Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) of Manipur, said Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav.

During interrogation, Satender Kumar told police that he was a transporter involved in illegal trade of sandalwood/red sandalwood and teakwood.

He used to smuggle timber from Manipur and Assam for supplying in Tamil Nadu.

In 2007, his truck was captured by members of KYKL of Manipur and its leader O Juge Singh had extorted Rs 8 lakh from him to secure the release of his truck.

Since then, he had a grudge against O Juge Singh.

Meanwhile, he came in contact of one RK, who was junior to O Juge Singh in the organization and wanted to replace O Juge Singh in the outfit.

RK informed Satender that Singh was frequently visiting Delhi and also offered him contract amount of Rs 10 lakh to eliminate him in Delhi, said Yadav.

RK along with Satender hatched a conspiracy to eliminate O Juge Singh and Satender further roped in Pardeep, Narender and Devender in his plan and provided them logistic support and the weapons.

On November 3, 2008, Narender along with his associates committed daylight double murder in his village Chappar, Jhajjar, Haryana due to personal enmity.

Thereafter, he came to the house of Satender in Delhi.

"On the same night, RK informed Satender about O Juge Singh's presence at a house in Mukherjee Nagar, Delhi.

So they abducted O Juge Singh from Mukherjee Nagar by posing as Crime Branch officials.

They took him to the area Jharoda Kalan and shot him dead near Jharoda village.

They wanted to dump the dead body in Haryana, but ended up dumping the same in the fields of Jafarpur Kalan in Delhi considering it to be area of Haryana," said Yadav.

He was arrested in this case but after his release on bail in 2011, he did not attend the Court and he was declared Proclaimed Offender in this case.

Pritam is a maternal cousin of Satender Kumar.

Thereafter, Satender and Pritam settled in Raipur of Chattisgarh and again started working as transporters.

They were involved in illegal transport of sandalwood/red sandalwood in the area.

Their cousin Rajesh alias Raju was also a transporter in the same area.

They had some dispute and on January 24, 2011, both of them killed Rajesh with the help of their associates.

A case was registered at Amanaka police station, Raipur, Chhattisgarh in this regard.

Both the accused persons were absconding since then and a cash reward Rs 15000 each was declared on their arrest.

They have been arrested under appropriate sections of law and Chattisgarh police has been informed accordingly, police said.
