The accused primary teacher is identified as Nongmeikappam Dhamen (34) s/o Kunjo of Mayang Imphal Konchak Heibum Yangbi.
Parading Dhamen before media persons at a location in Bishnupur district today, a spokes-person of the ONK stated that Dhamen will be prohibited from facing any DPC for his various corrupt activities.
In case he had faced any DPC earlier or his service already approved, the same will be invalidated, he said.
Confessing his various graft cases, Dhamen said that he joined the Government aided Heibum Yangbi Primary School as an unapproved teacher on March 6, 2000. After some time, a post of Under Graduate Primary Teacher became vacant in the post.
Taking advantage of the situation, Dhamen offered bribes and lobbied to fill the vacant post and get his service approved, he disclosed.
Stating that one L Momolata of Mayang Imphal Thana Awang Leikai was also after the post, Dhamen disclosed that he offered Rs one lakh MLA Kh Ratankumar, Rs 10,000 to DI Abujam Kunjabihari of ZEO Zone I and another Rs 35,000 to the school managing committee last year just to get the vacant post.
Moreover, he donated Rs 34,000 towards building the school in 1999, he mentioned.
The ONK spokesperson also warned the circle AI and DI against sanctioning salaries to the scale befitting an approved teacher or allowing Dhamen in any DPC for teacher recruitment.
Maintaining that Education Department and the school managing committee should not encourage such bribery just for a post of primary teacher, the spokesperson further warned that school managing committees looking after aided schools will be penalised accordingly in case they are found manipulating attendance registers while preparing seniority lists of the teachers with the ulterior motive to receive bribe.
