Training / awareness programme on "Prohibition of Child Marriage Act" held

Under the aegis of the District Administration Thoubal, the District Health Society Thoubal organised a one day training cum awareness generation programme for Health staffs and ASHAs on "Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006" at PHC Charangpat.
The training cum awareness programme held as part of Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat Campaign was attended by staff and ASHAs of PHC Charangpat.
The programme was graced by Dr Mona Angom, Sr MO in-charge, PHC Charangpat as president, members of JAS Committee, K Sadananda Singh, Secy IRCS and K Lokendro Singh of NYK Thoubal were also attended the programme as special guests.
Dr M Bikramjit Singh, DNO, NTCP, Ch Basanta Singh, District Program Manager and Md Riyas Sheikh, District Community Mobiliser Thoubal were the main speakers of the day.
During the program, Ch Basanta Singh highlighted the importance of organising the awareness programme to the gathering.
During the training, the ASHAs and other stakeholders were educated and trained about the legal consequences of Child Marriage and importance of reporting cases to authorities.
It also emphasizes that marriages below the legai ages are punishable offenses and could lead to facing penalties to even parents and guests attending such weddings.
The resource persons also explained on Child helpline no 1098 and police helpline no 112.Dr M Bikramjit explained on the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act 2006 to the participants.
It is said that such programmes will also be held in all the public Health facilities in the coming days to train and generate awareness to ASHAs and Health Staff.
