Observing that the State Govt should not remain indifferent to the rising popularity of Manipuri digital cinema, Biren asserted that the State budget should reflect certain amount of money specifically to promote Manipuri digital films.
The film festival which would continue till January 13 was inaugurated by IFCD Minister N Biren after a rally by noted film personalities and popular actors from Lai Ishing Chaibi to Shankar Talkies.
The inaugural ceremony was also graced by eminent film personality MK Binodini and filmmaker K Ibohal as guests of honour and chairman of Film Forum Manipur W Lalitkumar as functional president.
MK Binodini lamented that even as Manipuri cinema is now able to create a niche of its own, there has been very few accomplished directors in Manipuri cinema.
K Ibohal stated that the basic objective of the Festival of Manipuri Cinema is to promote quality Manipuri films.
