Imphal, September 03: National spokesperson of BJP and Rajya Sabha MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy who arrived here today on a two-day visit met the leaders and office bearers of the State unit to discuss election strategics to be adopted by the party forthe Parliament election.

Leaders of the MPP and People's Democratic Alliance are also expected to meet Rajiv Pratap tomorrow in connection with becoming constituent units of the NDA.

According to a source, it is said that the main purpose of the visit of the BJP leader is to assess the possibility of accepting MPP as a constituent unit of the NDA.

On his arrival at Imphal, Rajiv Pratap met the State unit party leaders and other office bearers separately at the office of the party at Nityapat Chuthek here today and discussed issues related to strengthening of the party position, how it should fight the Parliament election and whether it should form alliance with other political parties or not.

The State Unit BJP had already decided during separate State executive meetings attended by BJP Nationa secretary organsiation Ran Lal had that it would contest in both the Lok Sabhz seats of the State in the 10th Lok Sabha election.

Ahead of the arrival oi Rajiv Pratap at ImphaL, e joint meeting of the leaders of the State executive, Kendra and district presidents, secretaries, morcha, Manila and Yuva Morcha had also be held to discuss the plans and programmes of the party.

Those who spoke at the meeting observed that it would be advisable to have thorough discussion on issues like whether BJP would be able to fight in the election successfully all alone, the motive behind the aspiration of MPP to form a pre-poll alliance with BJP and the conditions under which the alliance is to be.

Co-ordinator (Manipur and Nagaland) of the party Avinash Kilo and North-East in-charge Chandrasekhar Rao were also present during the meeting.

Both of them arrivaed at lmphal yesterday.

Leaders of MPP which is the oldest regional party of the State are also expected to meet Rajiv Pratap at Hotel New Airlines here tomorrow to discuss issues related to to fighting the upcoming Lok Sabha election as a constituent unit of NDA.

In his regard, MPP president Dr Chandramani said that the party leaders are going to meet and hold discussion with Rajiv Pratap in his capacity as a representative of the NDA and anot as a BJP leader.

Besides discussion on becoming a partner of NDA, the MPP leaders would also take up the issues of fighting the Lok Sabha election along with BJP.

The question ofseat adjudgement, would be discussed only after acceptance of HPP as an NDA partner, he added.

In connection with upoming Parliamcnt election, leaders of the People's Democratic Alliance (PDA) which was formed during the last General election and leaders at other politivcal parties' are also, expected to call on Rajiv Pratap during his stay at Imphal.
