Romi, Veilou in line for Cannes Film Fest

Noted filmmakers Romi Meitei and Ashok Veilou are set to participate in the prestigious 76th edition of the Cannes Film Festival 2023 to be held from May 16 to 27 at Cannes, France.
The two independent film directors from Manipur will represent the country at the red carpet of die international film festival.
It is worth noting that Romi Meitei is a lyricist and film director who has over two decades of experience in film direction.
He has re-ceived numerous accolades at film festivals both in India and abroad.
Some of his most well-known films include Thoiba Thoibi, Inga Nonglakta, Manithoiba, Natephamda Tero, Chumthang Makhong, Mikithi and Dharmagi Mingda Imagidamak.
His latest work is the highly acclaimed film 'Eikhoigi Yum (Our Home)' which bagged the Audience Choice Award for the Best Narrative Feature at the 8th Indie Meme Film Festival 2023 held at Austin City, USA.
Ashok Veilou is an indigenous filmmaker from the Poumai Naga tribe in Manipur.
He is reportedly the first tribal from Manipur to receive a post graduate degree in Direction & Screenplay Writing from Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI) Kolkata.
His short films deal with personal stories about human rights and social issues, such as the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA-1958).He won his first award at the 23rd Kolkata International Film Festival (2017) and was selected to represent India at the 42nd Poitiers Film Festival 2019.He was also conferred with the Young Achievers Award 2020 .
Ashok Veilou has directed many films including short films Tou-Tai (Seed) and Look at the Sky.
