Expressing serious concern over the communal tinge being blown out of proportion over the reported construction of EGS under Lilong AC in Thoubal district, the All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM-ES) has appealed to all concerned organisations not to create any communal misunderstanding out of the tussle but to bring a solution to it.
ATSUM, after proper investigation into the issue found out that it is a case of construction of EGS centre at Leiphrakpam Laishram Mamang Leikai under Lilong A/C of which the Minister is the Chairman of the project and the ZEO/Tbl the Member Secretary, a statement issued by Kakam Haokip, Education Secretary of ATSUM said.
"It is very pertinent to note that as a Chairman it is his duty to rebuke, correct and advise his secretary to follow the guidelines of the Ministry.
There might be some misunderstandings and some vocals from the higher up but that cannot be construed as communal and personal.
It is very official and as a social organisation we cannot jump and try to manipulate the case as anti-tribal or communal," the statement asserted.
"ATSUM has never been communal in its 40 years history and ATSUM has never taken a case which does not directly or indirectly affect the tribals of the State and the students' communities in particulars," a statement issued by the Education Secretary of ATSUM Kakam Haokip said.
ATSUM appealed to all the civil society organisations both in the valley and hills not to create any communal ill feelings out of this misunderstanding but to bring a solution.
ATSUM also urged the authority concerned not to take up any action against the officer concerned.
"In the name of ATSUM we must not try to create any communal feelings because ATSUM never interferes in the administration of the State Government or any kind of development works which is purely under the purview of the Government," it added.
