Governor visits Masjid

Reminding that no religion advocates animosity against other religions, Governor VK Duggal said every section of the society should contribute towards overall progress of India.
Speaking to newspersons after interacting with Muslim clerics and prominent personalities of the community at Babupara Jama Masjid today, the Governor describing his visit as a courtesy call, said he plans to tour various places in the State to reach out to the people and understand their wish and aspiration, which remaining at the Raj Bhavan will not be possible.
Stating that today's visit to the Masjid is part of his objective to hear grievances of the people, the Governor said his earlier visits to Govindajee Temple and Churches had been enlightening experience for him.
Reiterating that through personal interaction with the people he could grasp sentiment of the community concerned, Duggal also conveyed that he would be visiting Ukhrul at short notice and plans to stay there for some time/days.
noting that Manipur has vast potential for development in the sectors of agriculture, horticulture, Information Technology, tourism etc., he Manipur is not only blessed with natural abundance but also talented younger generation.
Parliamentary Secretary Md Amin Shah, Manipur State Minority Commission Chairman IAS (Retd) A Halim Chowdhury, DGP Saheed Ahmad, former Speaker Dr Maniruddin Sheikh, Dr Suhel Akhtar, Salaouddin Khan and Muslim religious leaders were also present at the occasion.
