Displaced student clears Class X

Heibithabam Sanjoy Singh, a displaced student staying at a relief camp opened at Borobekra police station has defied all odds and cleared the Class X examination.
The Borobekra police station relief camp, where the student has been staying, was the ground zero of a fierce terror attack by Kuki militants on November 11, 2024.The attack at the relief camp left two elderly persons dead, and 6 innocent civilians - three women and three children including an infant were kidnapped.
The lifeless bodies of the six were recovered from a river later in the days.
Despite living under constant fear and traumatised by killing of fellow displaced persons including women and children, Sanjoy didn't lose sight and mustered enough courage to study and sit in the examination to come out stronger.
Sanjoy is the son of Sadhu Singh from Lamdai Khunou.
He is a student of Rising Sun School.
After violence broke out suddenly in Jiribam, Sanjoy and his family had to run for their lives and seek shelter at the relief camp set up inside the Borobekra police station.
They were running for their survival and books weren't important then.
But when the time for examination form fill-up came.
Sanjoy realised he had no textbooks.
Few textbooks were arranged, but it wasn't adequate.
This was when the Relief Committee Manipur reached out to the people in the relief camp.
The committee decided to help Sanjoy and other students at the relief camp.
Through the committee, several generous teachers of many schools came forward to help Sanjoy and provide him with study materials on various subjects.
Wangkhem Rabichandra, Director Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School, Porompat; Thounaojam Joykumar Singh, Principal Hill Valley Academy, Lamlai; Asem Naba, retired Lecturer Lamlong Higher Secondary School and Maisanam Chanchai Chanu, Assistant Graduate Teacher at Lamlong Higher Secondary School provided textbooks and study materials in a short period of time for Sanjoy to prepare for the examination.
