RB rolls out devt progs for AC

Imphal, June 12 2011: Ahead of the forthcoming Assembly elections, incumbent MLA Radhabinod Koijam has announced a slew of development programmes for Thangmeiband Assembly Constituency.

The MLA is also planning to recruit 500 active workers for NCP.

As part of the 13th foundation day of NCP being celebrated across the country, a meeting of the NCP workers of Thangmeiband AC was held today in the premises of Ima Khunthokhanbi today.

Announcing a slew of development programmes that would be taken up in Thangmeiband AC in the near future, Radhabinod said that housing loans of Rs 3 lakhs each have been provided to 100 households of the constituency.

Plans are also afoot to provide housing loans of Rs 3 to 5 lakhs to 500 families.

He announced that a multipurpose hall would be constructed near Khoyathong community pond where elders can rest and students too can relax.

He said that NCP would be recruiting 500 active workers from Thangmeiband AC in the first phase.

Each active worker would be provided Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 under a special scheme.

Out of them, 20 capable and sincere workers would be selected and they would be given Rs 50,000 each, the NCP State unit president announced.

He further declared that people living with HIV/AIDS would be issued AAY cards so that they can get rice at Rs 3.50 per Kg.

All preparations have also been made to extend old age pension scheme for people above 60 and 80 years of age.

The pension amount would be paid continuously until it can be paid from Government fund.

People engaging in micro scale trades would be given Rs 1000 to Rs 3000 as loan on minimal interest.

In addition to giving meritorious scholarship to brilliant but poor students, youngsters which wish to take up poultry, piggery etc as their vocation would be given Rs 5000 each as loans, he said.

A sum of 75,000 would be given to each of the 52 Self Help Groups functioning within Thangmeiband AC.

Radhabinod went on to state that the iron water tank installed at Lalambung would be replaced by an RCC tank of capacity two lakhs litres at the cost of Rs four crores.

For this, a sum of Rs one crore has been already set aside.

Besides efforts to dig a pond and build a water tank inside DM College campus, all the roads and streets inside Thangmeiband AC would be repaired very soon.

He called upon the NCP workers and sympathisers to wake up.

Saying that NCP is determined to bring a stable and violence-free society, Radhabinod Koijam suggested that the Government should endeavour to find a way for dialogue with underground outfits.

He went on to question why it would not be possible to hold dialogue with UG outfits of the State if the Government can talk with NSCN-IM.

Among others, the meeting was attended by party leaders and members of the Thangmeiband Kendra Development Committee.
