Samarendra, Kiran remembered to mark May 6

Atom Samarendra Singh and Yumkhaibam Kirankumar Singh, who went missing on this day 2 years ago were remembered at Khumbong with people paying floral tributes to their portraits.
Atom Samarendra Singh and Yumkhaibam Kirankumar Singh hailed from Khumbong.
They went missing on May 6, 2023 during the early days of the Manipur conflict, and are suspected to have been killed by Kuki militants.
Notably, the last rites of the two missing were held using Pangongs as replacement for their bodies on December 15, 2023 .
At the memorial site at the office premises of Khumbong Mamang Leikai Imphal West Students Club (IWSC) today, the locals and their families and members of the club offered prayers and respect.
Atom Samarendra Singh and Yumkhaibam Kirankumar Singh were active members of the club who made immense contributions toward the welfare of the people, said IWSC general secretary Oinam Hemanta.
He urged the Governor and the authorities concerned to take necessary actions and trace the two youths.
Hemanta also appealed to the Governor and relevant authorities to provide assistance and livelihood to the families of Atom Samarendra Singh and Yumkhaibam Kirankumar Singh.
Notably, Atom Samarendra had worked as a journalist with The Sangai Express and was a trustee member of Khelen Thokchom Trust.
Members of the Khelen Thokchom Trust attended the remembrance ceremony today.
