Imphal, December 20 2012:
Anguished by the molestation of a film actress by NSCN-IM's Lt Col Livingstone, 16 Meira Paibi organisations have joined hands and have resolved to launch a series of agitation until the culprit is arrested and awarded exemplary punishment.
Speaking to media persons in the office of Women Association for Civic Action, Kangleipak (WACAK) this afternoon, its president Soubam Ibetombi claimed that Meira Paibis have been collectively fighting crimes against women for the past many years.
She cited the cases of Jangthailiu, Premila, one student of TG Hr Sec School etc.
She also condemned the act of molesting a film actress by NSCN-IM cadre as inhumane and dastardly.
Taking strong exception to the stoic silence maintained by women MLAs in the face of increasing violence against women, Ibetombi further decried the helpless position adopted by State forces against excesses committed by cadres of NSCN-IM which is holding peace parleys with the Government of India.
A series of protest movements would be launched until and unless Livingstone is booked and awarded exemplary punishment, she declared.
