Thangal Anleinao Jonlang (TAJ) celebrates Golden Jubilee

The Thangal Anleinao Jonlang (TAJ), Thangal students' union celebrated its Golden Jubilee under the theme "Bridging the gap between our past and the future" at Nteiramphung (Tumnoupokpi) in Senapati district today.
The Golden Jubilee celebration was marked by presentation of various Thangal cultural dances byThangal youth from different places and beautiful choreography were also presented by the youths.
The celebration function was attended by PK Jha, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Senapati as Chief Guest.
He unveiled the Jubilee monolith and unfurled the Union's flag.
Addressing the gatherings, PK Jha said that the contribution of the tribe is being acknowledged by the Govt.He said that Thangal General is a glaring example of the valour and bravery of the Thangal tribe.
Approximately 5000 Thangal tribe resided in the entire state said PK Jha while encouraging the tribe to strive excellence in all aspects.
He said that number does not count and number is not a strength always.
Being large in population did not guarantee power and progress.
"Do not ever think that you are less in number and you will not be counted.
In democracy every single individual counts.
Every individual who is meritorious and hard working is much better than hundred people who are doing nothing for the country," PK Jha enlivened.
Delivering the presidential address, K Gongrisim, President Thangal Anleinao Jonlong (Thangal Students' Union) said that, the TAJThangal Anleinao Jonlong is the apex student organization of the Thangal and the celebration of the Golden jubilee is not the end in itself while also adding that "We have to start working hard from here" .
The Jubilee Souvenir was released by H Khangba, President Thangal Khanglon.
According to the Souvenir published by the Students' body it is said that, the Thangal Naga tribe is a Mongolian race by origin and among the earliest original inhabitant of Manipur.
The Thangal Naga Students Union came into limelight in the year 1962 under the presidentship of YK Shangba of Mayangkhang Ningthoupham and (L) Ch Ozeo of Tumnoupokpi as its General Secretary.
In this very year the students body changed its name to Thangal Anleinao Jonlong added the Souvenir.
