Imphal, July 15 2017:
Altogether eight BJP MLAs of the coalition Government led by Chief Minister N Biren are likely to step down from the post of Parliamentary Secretary .
The eight Parliamentary Secretaries who are poised to step down are L Susindro (Khurai AC), S Subashchandra (Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC), L Rameshwar (Keirao AC), N Indrajit (Kshetrigao AC), K Robindro (Mayang Imphal AC), Th Satyabrata (Yaiskul AC), H Dingo (Sekmai AC) and Dr Sapam Ranjan (Konthoujam AC) .
Sources informed that some of these Parliamentary Secretaries submitted resignation letters to the Chief Minister a few days back .
The resignation is aimed at facilitating enrolment of the BJP MLAs as members of different committees of the State Assembly.
It is reported that there is a tacit understanding between them and the Government regarding their move to step down from the post of Parliamentary Secretary .
The Parliamentary Secretaries decided to step down as they get lesser power and benefits.
Moreover, no official files reach them as there is no compulsion that official files should reach Parliamentary Secretaries .
It is being speculated that there might be a minor reshuffle of the portfolios currently held by different Ministers after the forthcoming Assembly session which starts from July 20, and some Parliamentary Secretaries might be inducted as in-charge of some departments currently held by the Chief Minister.
