CCpur, January 27 2017:
Even as the Nation observed its 68th Republic Day, thousands of citizens on Thursday instead assembled at the Salpha Pumbuk here to pay tributes to the fallen 'tribal martyrs' as they feel their Constitutional rights has been unduly denied till today and their undying cries ignored.
The event held chiefly to reassure the public that movement initiated by JACAATB is still on even after 500 plus days of the public uprising and despite the withdrawal of crucial tribal apex bodies, was held under the aegis of YPA GHQs.
The JACAATB in a statement said it is part of the series of events organised by various organisations at various points of time in consultation with the JACAATB where the crowd reaffirmed their commitment towards the tribal cause.
'The event saw leaders of various tribe-based philanthropic organisations like the Young Mizo Association Manipur Group, the Zou Youth Organisation GHQ, the Simte Youth Organisation GHQ and the Young Paite Association GHQ.
The expressed their continued support and commitment towards the JAC and the movement,' it added.
Floral tributes were paid to the symbolic coffins of the martyrs assembled at the Pumbuk and speeches were delivered by several personalities.
