Lamka, May 26 2012: A team of four MLAs led by Health Minister Phungzathang Tonsing returned today after a five-day tour in the interior areas of the district wherein medical camps, inauguration of developmental projects and public meeting were the core purposes.

The team which included Thanlon MLA Vungzagin Valte, Tipaimukh MLA Dr Chantonlien Amo, Singngat MLA GS Haupu and the Chairman of ADC Churachandpur Langkhanpau Guite, headed for the interior areas on Tuesday morning.

Over 20 medical staffs including Doctors have conducted a medical camp at Thanlon sub-divisional headquarters where they also made their first night hold.

Tonsing in his address assured the people that installation of a 33 KV sub-station each at Thanlon and Sinzawl would be completed before December.

On the second day, the team attended a ceremony marking the foundation anniversary of four Zomi Youth Association units under Bukpi Block at Joutung village.

A medical camp at Bukpi village followed the ceremony and they concluded their day at Pherzawl with a medical camp.

As requested by the Medical Officer there, Tonsing promised the medical staff a Bolero jeep, solar lamps and sufficient drinking water.

The team made their return journey through the Guite Road and again conducted a medical camp at Sinzawl that was followed by a public meeting.

Thereafter, they stayed the night at Songtal.

A medical camp was organized there before dusk and a public meeting was held at night with the minister launching two music albums.

On Friday, before leaving Songtal the minister inaugurated a hostel of a government run school.

The team then proceeded to Mualnuam where a medical camp and public meeting was again conducted.

There Tonsing declared before the public that Mualnuam SDC circle would be upgraded to an SDO level.

He also promised a hospital with sufficient staff for the village.

Holding the night at Singngat sub-divisional headquarters the team attended a public meeting and left for Behiang, a border village along the IndoMyanmar to attend another public meeting.

Before heading for Behiang, the team inaugurated a PHC building at Singngat.

The team reached here today evening from Behiang and concluded their five-day-long tour.

The team, according to an accompanying media person, was given a warm reception in almost every village they had passed through.

They have in turn doled out gifts and assurances as well.

They also inaugurated a good number of developmental projects taken up under different schemes.

The tour is a marked development in the district's history as it witnesses four of the six MLAs from the district touring the interior area in unison.

Notably all six MLAs from the district are from the ruling Congress party.

The team had begun their tour through the Tipaimukh Road and made their return along the Guite.
