Imphal, November 25 2019:
Federation of Government College Teachers' Association (FEGOCTA) has threatened to boycott the college/graduation semester examination, which will be conducted by Manipur University from November 28, if the State Government fails to fulfil its long pending demand of implementing UGC recommended pay scale for Government college teachers by November 27.Speaking to media persons on the sideline of a ceasework strike cum protest demonstration at the campus of DM College of Science today, FEGOCTA general secretary, N Somorendro, decried that the State Government has failed to implement the UGC recommended pay scale even though it (Government) had always assured to do the needful in the past.
Reminding that FEGOCTA has been demanding implementation of 7th UGC Pay for a long time now, Somorendro warned that FEGOCTA will boycott the graduation semester exam if the Government does not fulfil their long pending demand by November 27 .
Although the federation and college lecturers do not want to create any disturbances in the examination, FEGOCTA was compelled to take this stand as the State Government has continuously ignored the federation, he claimed.
The Government has not even responded once to FEGOCTA even after though its ceasework strike has entered 5 days today, he lamented adding that FEGOCTA has also informed the respective heads of the Government colleges in the State about its decision to ensure that all college teachers refrain from exam duty.
