Residents stage protest rally against Wangjing Tentha AC MLA, bar his entry

Thoubal, October 13 2026: Residents of Tentha and Mairenkhun have imposed a boycott on Wangjing Tentha Assembly Constituency MLA Paonam Brojen and barred his entry at Tentha and Mairenkhun areas.

The residents resolved to boycott the MLA alleging that he had sabotaged the solemn occasion commemorating Lamyanba Hijam Irabot by turning it into a political event and for his absence and stance throughout the Manipur crisis.

The residents of Tentha and Mairenkhun took out a protest torch rally yesterday evening against the MLA and shouted slogans against him.

A large number of protestors took out the rally which started from Tentha Thongkhong Bazar and culminated at the same spot after passing through Tentha Khunou and Mairenkhun.

The protestors demanded resignation of the MLA on moral grounds.

A protestor identified as Naorem Kabilal while speaking on the sidelines strongly condemned the MLA for politicising a commemoration event of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot on September 30 .

Kabilal expressed resentment over the MLA remarks on the Manipur crisis during the said occasion where he stated that 'Manipur's crisis could have been avoided if he was given a ministerial berth' .

The statement indicates that he had a role in the crisis, Kabilal alleged.

Kabilal also questioned the prolonged absence of the MLA during the crisis.

Stating that such irrational statements from the MLA has brought shame to Wangjing Tentha AC, the residents have resolved to boycott the MLA and bar his entry to Tentha and Mairenkhun areas, he added.
