Positive feedbacks for Kouna products

Even as the State has started exporting handloom and handicraft products to Dubai on a trial basis, bulk orders have been received for Kouna products.
Handloom and Handicraft Director Elangbam Jeeten said this during the 14-day State Handloom Expo 2025 at Urban Haat, Nilakuthi, Imphal East.
Sponsored by the Development Commissioner for Handlooms, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, the expo is being organised by the State Directorate of Handlooms and Textiles from March 15 .
A total of 60 stalls, exhibiting and selling handloom and handicraft products are opened at the expo.
At the launch of the expo 2025, E Jeeten said the Manipur Handloom and Handicraft Development Corporation Limited has started exporting products to Dubai on a trial basis.
Among the products that are being exported, Kouna products are doing exceptionally good.
The corporation has received bulk orders for the Kouna products, he said.
The State exporting handloom and handicraft products to Dubai has provided a platform for weavers and artisans to showcase and sell their products, he added.
Anticipating that there will be more handloom and handicraft expos this year, Jeeten urged weavers and artisans to participate in all expos at the State and National level.
Participating in the National level expos will bring more exposure and enhance the products' reach, he added.
The handloom and handicraft products produced here are of good quality and they will be able to compete with products of other States, he said.
To attract more buyers, weavers and artisans must try new and unique designs, Jeeten said.
While making products for local consumption is good, artisans and weavers should also explore and they must strive to become professionals from part-timers, he said, adding the Department will lend all possible assistance for their growth.
Development Commissioner for Handloom Deputy Director Priyadarshi Daripa, Handloom National Awaredee Gurumayum Shanti Devi, Directorate of Handlooms and Textiles Financial Advisor Th Jugindro Singh attended the launch of the expo.
