Imphal, May 16 2024:
All armed men have been banned in Kongba area after 8 pm with effect from May 16.According to a press release issued by the All Kongba Road United Clubs' Organisation (AKRUCO), some office bearers of the Kongba Youth Organisation (KYO), Kongba Nong-thombam Leikai were in the club's ground when some armed men came there in a Scorpio and Gypsy at around 8 pm on Wednesday.
Without giving any opportunity to the club's office bearers, the armed men thrashed them mercilessly.
Strongly condemning the assault by the armed men who appeared to have no idea of who the real enemy of the Nation are, AKRUCO has appealed to all concerned to refrain from such actions in any part of Manipur, particularly in AKRUCO's areas.
It said that all armed men have been banned from entering AKRUCO's areas after 8 pm without first giving information to the local clubs and Meira Paibi groups.
If any armed man enters into AKRUCO areas without giving prior information, the armed man should be held accountable for any untoward incident resulting from the 'intrusion', it said.
AKRUCO has been compelled to take this step as repeated appeals not to open fire in the area or create fear psychosis among the innocent civilians went to deaf ears, it added.
