Eviction orders issued against encroachers

Imphal, July 11 2024: Deputy Commissioners of Imphal West and Imphal East have issued orders directing encroachers to vacate illegal occupation of Government Khas lands and State lands adjoining the National Highways, State roads, Inter Village Roads (IVRs), river banks and drains latest by July 21 and July 17 respectively.

A notification issued by Th Kirankumar, DC Imphal West pointed out that unauthorized occupancy by constructing structures along the river course/catchment area belonging to the State along the Waisel Maril, Turel Amanbi from Singjamei to Langthabal, Naga Turel, Chandranadi and Mera Khong have obstructed the natural flow water and accelerated flooding in many localities.

Highlighting the need to evict such illegal structures to prevent further flooding of adjoining localities and protection of river banks, the DC Imphal West ordered encroachers to vacate such illegal occupation by July 21 .

Meanwhile, Imphal East Deputy Commissioner Khumanthem Diana Devi has directed illegal encroachers to vacate their structures by July 17 and warned that failing to comply with the directive will result in eviction by the authorities/magistrates/Line Departments concerned without further notice.

Notably, the cost for dismantling of such structures will be borne by the encroachers wherever applicable.

Moreover, yesterday, the Additional Deputy Commissioner Imphal West Shamim Ahmad Shah listed 74 roads within Imphal West district and instructed SDOs of Lamphel/Patsoi/Wangoi to conduct field surveys for identification of encroachers over State land and carry out their eviction.

In a notification, the Addl DC, Imphal West directed the SDOs to take up necessary action for eviction of the encroachers and removal of unauthorized structures constructed over such land within their jurisdiction.

The 74 roads identified for the survey come under Sagolband, Uripok, Khagempalli, Thangmeiband, Singjamei, Takyel Khongbal, Meitei Langol, Changangei, Keishamthong, Mongshangei, Langthabal, Naoriya Pakhanglakpa, Oinam Thingel, Lalambung and Bijoy Govinda area among others.
