Two held with 40 kgs of ganja

Imphal, September 23 2017:
Imphal East district police personnel arrested two individuals, including one non local, along with 40 kgs of Marijuana/ganja, at Lamlong bazar, today afternoon .
According to a reliable source, as a part of the intensified security measures taken up by Imphal East district police as per the instruction of SP, K Kabib, in connection with the coming State Panchayat election, a team of Imphal East district police conducted frisking and checking at Lamlong bazar, under the supervision of Additional SP, W Kasar and led by DSP (Commando) K Robinson .
During the frisking and checking, the team spotted a suspicious Tata Magic with two occupants, coming from Sawombung towards Lamlong .
On checking the vehicle, the police seized two white plastic sacks concealing 40 kilograms of Marijuana/ ganja from the possession of the two occupants, identified as Laishram Ibohalbi (60) s/o (L) Thambalngou of Yourabung Mayai Leikai and Raju Kumar Das (39) s/o Seilendro Kumar Das of Sotu Haflong village, Dimasu district, Assam .
During preliminary interrogation, Laishram Ibohalbi disclosed that they were on their way to Jiribam bus parking at Sagolband Wahengbam Leikai to transport the seized ganja to his son, Laishram Inaocha (who is presently staying at Jiribam) through Ram Kumar Das .
Both of them were arrested and the ganja was seized from the spot after observing necessary formalities and later handed over to Porompat police station for taking up necessary legal actions under the ND and PS Act.
