MPP Prez's term extended by 2 months

As agreed at the party's central committee meeting, the term of incumbent MPP president Oinam Jugindro has been extended by two months .
Amidst tight security, a meeting of the MPP central committee was held today at the party office.
Out of the total 62 members of the central committee, 51 attended the meeting which started from 11 am .
Other people who are not members of the central committee were barred from entering the meeting venue by police .
Speaking to The Sangai Express after the central committee meeting, Oinam Jugindro said that the meeting deliberated on a letter sent by the Election Commission of India (ECI) and election of a new party president .
The meeting endorsed the decision adopted by the party's working committee on July 6 this year to hold a general conference on December 15 this year .
As per the party's constitution, a new president should be elected one month before expiry of the incumbent president's term.
Considering this provision, the central committee meeting agreed to extend the incumbent president's tenure by two months .
Even though there was no untoward incident during the meeting, police locked the party office soon after the meeting concluded.
