People may receive one more hour of power supply per day

In a slight improvement to the current situation of power supply, people may receive one more hour of power supply per day, said a source in Electricity Department.
Power for one extra hour is available following disconnection of power lines of unauthorised consumers and consumers with outstanding power bills.
If unauthorised connections can be checked all over the State, people may get a few more hours of power supply every day, said a high ranking official of the Department.
Saying that unauthorised consumers and defaulters have been making connections to power lines at night while removing their power connections during day time, the official said the ongoing power disconnection drive would be undertaken at night too.
In the course of the ongoing drive, 12 unauthorised consumers of Nagaram which falls under IM Division were booked today.
Power connections of 188 consumers under four divisions of Electric Circle I were also removed today.
In addition to Rs 11,82,236 collected as power bills at site, another Rs 27,67,587 was paid at the counter.
As such, a total of Rs 39,49,783 was collected today.
Today's driver covered Keishamthong Kabui Khul, Khagempalli Pankha, Haobam Marak Irom Leikai, Langol Games Village Zone III and IV, Chingamathak, Pishum, Singjamei Kshetri Leikai, New Checkon and Nagaram.
