Imphal, August 01 2009: Along with honouring 24 outstanding weavers and one institution with award, the 10th Handloom Day was observed under the aegis of Handloom Promotion Council at MDU Hall here today.

The weavers who were honoured with award at the occasion are Laitonjam Dhananjoy of Patsoi Part-IV, Akhui Dangmei of Keishamthong Kabui village, Kh Rahammatum of Haoreibi Makha Leikai, Thoudam Ongbi Panchabati Devi of Kakwa Lilando Lampak, Kumari Suchitra Goswami of Wangkhei Meihoubam Lampak, Amakcham Ongbi Purnimasi Devi of Ucheckon Laikon, Gurumayum Binasakhi Devi of Kangla Siphai, Mangsatabam Kunjalata of Kongpal Chanam Leikai, Angom Lalita of Wangkhei Thangjam Leikai, Waikhom Ongbi Mema Devi of Kongba Ucheckon, RK Ongbi Thasana Devi of Kakwa Laiphrakpam Leikai, KM Sarina Begum of Lilong Haoreibi Mayai Leikai, Sairem Ibecha Devi of Langjing Achouba, Konsam Ongbi Silapati Devi of Tellou Maning Leikai, Laishram Ongbi Bimola Leima of Tellou Maning Leikai, Thongam Amusana Devi of Ucheckon Takhok Mapal, Puyam Premila of Nongren Mamang Leikai, Hijam Rangila Devi of Wangkhei Lourembam Leirak, Meisnam Bidhu Devi of Kangmong Manglak Maisnam Leikai, Sorokhaibam Barpati Devi of Heikrujam, Sairem Bina Devi of Kangmong Tongbram, Salam Ongbi Nganbi Devi of Uripok Polem Leikai, Yumlembam Ongbi Angoubi Devi of Khurkhul Awang Leikai, Khundrakpam Ongbi Dasu Leima of Thoubal Wangmataba Mathak Leikai and Brilliance School, Uripok.

Each award carries cash prize and certificate.

PDA Chairman Dr Kh Loken Singh, Director of Commerce and Industries Dhiraj Yumnam and president of Handloom Promotion Council H Rajendra Singh attended the observance as chief guest, guest of honour and functional president respectively.
