Resolve crisis before election: AITUC

All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), Manipur unit has demanded the government to resolve the crisis before the Lok Sabha election.
Addressing a press meet at Irawat Bhawan here on Monday, AITUC Manipur general secretary L Sotinkumar said that people of the state are facing severe hardships due to the ongoing crisis.
The Central government should bring an early political solution to the crisis so that the state could regain peaceful atmosphere, he stated and also demanded the Centre to stop supporting the Kuki militants, resolve the crisis and hold the Lok Sabha election later.
He enquired why the government is still sitting on the demand for establishment of national highway protection force to secure the national highways leading to the state, and demanded deployment of a couple of thousands of central security forces along the highway as an interim measure.
Sotinkumar also highlighted the February 16 nationwide protest for the welfare of far mers and workers and said that the state unit of AITUC joined the protest demanding early solution to the crisis.
He also informed that the union will launch another month-long protest from February 28 .
