IDPs trained on bakery, 'waste to wealth'

The certificate distribution ceremony for a 10-day training programme for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) organised by State Science and Technology Department at Sawombung relief camp from April 24 was held on Tuesday.
The distribution event was attended by Science and Technology director Homila Hongrei, secretary Kengoo Zuringla, Lamlai police station OC Tryphena Reikhenamai and relief camp convenor Th Dhananjoy.
In her address, Kengoo Zuringla stated that the objective of the training programme is to enhance the skills of displaced women taking shelter in relief camps by transforming scraps into utility products, thereby enabling them to generate own income.
The training programme attended by 40 IDPs and held on the theme 'Entrepreneurship development programme on making bakes and other household products from scraps', was conducted with Kh Jee and Kh Rocky as the instructors.
Certificates and stipends were distributed to the trainees as a part of the programme.
