Imphal, March 19 2025: A 14-day State Handloom Expo (Hathkargha Mela), organised by the Directorate of Handloom and Textiles under the sponsorship of the Office of the Development Commissioner Handloom, Ministry of Textiles was inaugurated at Urban Haat, Nilakuthi on March 15.Speaking at the inauguration function, Handloom and Textiles director E Jiten informed that Manipur State Handloom and Handicrafts Corporation has begun exporting various handloom and handicraft products from the state, which are expect ed to be well-received from abroad, especially in Dubai.

While disclosing that products made from Kouna were sold out within three days in Dubai, with further orders received for similar products, he urged weavers and artisans to craft their products in such a way that they attract buyers, while maintaining the high quality.

The function was attended by Ministry of Textiles, Weavers Service Centre deputy director Priyadarshi Daripa and Handloom national awardee Gurumayum Shanti Devi among others.

In all, 60 stalls displaying handloom and handicraft products are being set up in the expo, which would culminate on March 28 .
