AR observes World Asthma Day across state

Assam Rifles marked World Asthma Day on Tuesday by conducting a series of medical camps and community wellness activities across the state, reaffirming its commitment to healthcare outreach in remote and underserved regions.
According to PRO IGAR (S), the events were organised by Assam Rifles at Bungdung and Kasong villages in Kamjong district, Thingkeu in Churachandpur and C Kotlen village in Chandel district.
Around 100 villagers including women and children received medical consultations, essential medicines and guidance on respiratory health, general hygiene and disease prevention.
At Bungdung and Kasong, Assam Rifles medical team conducted comprehensive health check-ups and sensitised locals on asthma, its symptoms, common triggers and the importance of early detection and preventive care.
The team emphasised lifestyle adjustments to minimise exposure to environmental irritants.
In Churachandpur and Thingkeu, a dedicated yoga session for students focused on breathing techniques such as pranayama, aimed at improving respiratory function, was conducted.
This was complemented by a medical lecture that equipped attendees with practical tools to manage asthma and maintain a healthy, dust-free living environment.
A separate medical camp held at C Kotlen village on Monday also addressed broader health issues, where 53 individuals availed free consultations and medicines.
Locals were also educated on preventing seasonal diseases like malaria and diarrhoea, the PRO informed.
