Kakching, April 07 2025:
Mantak Village Authority, with the support of local residents, has commenced repairing of the road section from ITI Kakching to Kakching Mantak Khunjao along the Pallel-Mantak road, as well as improvement of the drainage system.
According to Mantak village chief K Cheiraojao Kom, the 3-kilometre stretch from ITI to Mantak Khunjao is very narrow and bereft of drainage systems.
As a result, during the rainy season, mud flows down from the hills, causing inconvenience to the villagers.
To alleviate problems of the villagers during the rainy season, he said that the Mantak Village Authority, with support of Mantak Baptist Church, United Brothers Sporting Association (UBSA) and the villagers, began widening the road and constructing a drainage system using earth excavators since March 25.Cheiraojao Kom also appealed to authorities concerned to blacktop the said stretch and construct pucca drains.
Noting that centrally-sponsored schemes, such as MGNREGA, PMAYG+, and provisions for obtaining ST and residential certificates, are being implemented for the villagers, he, however, pointed out that these benefits have not reached the community for the past two years.
As such, he appealed to authorities concerned to address the issue and resolve the inconveniences faced by students and the public.
