Tree plantation drive conducted

Under the aegis of Inspector General, Manipur and Nagaland Sector, the 86 Battalion CRPF Lamphel, led by Commandant Saurabh Kumar Choudhary, in collaboration with the Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR) represented by Dr Ch Basudha Devi, Head, Regional Centre ICAR Manipur Centre, Lamphelpat, Imphal have launched a tree plantation drive under the National Afforestation Programme (NAP) and Green India Mission.
As per a release issued by CRPF, the initiative aims to restore degraded land, increase green cover and support biodiversity using scientifically selected indigenous species.
Saurabh Kumar Choudhary emphasized the importance of this environmental conservation and community welfare.
Dr Ch Basudha Devi highlighted the role of scientific expertise in ensuring the success and sustainability of the plantation efforts.
Both teams will continue monitoring and engaging in local communities for tree care.
The joint effort reinforced India's commitment to climate action and ecosystem restoration.
Around 215 saplings were planted during the plantation drive.
