Bishnupur, May 06 2025:
A three-member team of teachers from Sambalei Sekpil School (SSS) has successfully dissected a guava tree to extract a stem borer insect, and implemented measures to ensure the tree's survival.
The dissection of the tree was conducted by three teachers from three departments namely M Okendro of Horticulture and Architect, M Iboyaima of Craft and Sangker of Fisheries.
Before starting the procedure, the teachers explained in detail why the approximately five-year-old guava tree had failed to thrive, despite beginning to bear fruit.
They successfully remove a live stem borer insect from the tree.
Explaining the procedure, Guinness World Record holder and founder of SSS Moirangthem Okendro, stated that approximately 30 centimetres of the tree were dissected in an effort to extract the stem borer insect, a process that took around 30 minutes.
He assured that the tree will be carefully nurtured to ensure its recovery and return to its healthy state.
