Imphal, January 21 2024:
In the aftermath of the recent gunning down of two state police commandos and injuring six other personnel by suspected Kuki militants at Moreh town bordering Myanmar, the state government has begun work for shifting of the Moreh commando post to a new location within the border town in Tengnoupal district.
It would take few days for complete renovation of some buildings meant for the new commando post, official sources said on Sunday.
The task comes after security advisor Kuldiep Singh had said that the police commandos' post would be relocated in another site in Moreh from where they can easily respond to militants' onslaughts and launch offensives.
On January 17, two commandos - Wangkhem Sormorjit Meetei and Takhellambam Saileshwor were killed and six others were injured when they came under heavy attack by the militants who used rocket propelled grenades and sophisticated arms.
