Senapati DA carries out eviction drive

Senapati, April 08 2025:
Senapati district administration on Monday carried out eviction of illegal structures, and clearance of drainage and culvert along the National Highway No 02 from Taphou Liangmai to Vishal Mall junction.
The eviction drive was carried out in the presence of Senapati additional district magistrate Rang David Kung, CEO/ADC Adahrii Maheo, Karong Senapati Town Committee (KSTC), Naga People Organisation (NPO), Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA), Senapati District Police personnel, officials of National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) and representatives of village authority.

Eviction on illegal structures within the 10 metres ROW of the NH-02 such as houses/boundary fences or walls/roofs; storage of items, goods, building materials for commercial or private use; and, encroachments on cross drains or side drains were removed.
It may be mentioned that the eviction drive was carried out after an order issued by Senapati sub-divisional magistrate to all the residents and show owners operating along the NH-02 from Liangmai Taphou to Khongnem Thana to vacate unauthorised occupation.
Senapati district administration, along with CEO/ADC Adahrii Maheo, KSTC, NPO, SDSA, Senapati district police and representatives of village authority also carried out another eviction drive along the bank of Senapati river from Mt Everest College parking area to Kathik-ho Karong as part of Clean Senapati River Campaign.
The drive was carried out for public health, environmental protection with the removal of unauthorised structures, including toilets, piggery sties, poultry farms and direct waste outlets along the Senapati river.
While carrying out Monday's eviction drive, around 20 toilets and its outlet, three pigsties and two poultries farms were dismantled and removed.
Prior to the eviction drive, the SDM Rang David Kung also issued an order 15 days earlier for forcible dismantling of unauthorised structures, deployment of law enforcement, imposition of penalties and waste disposal prohibition in case of non-compliance.
Senapati district administration further appealed to all denizens of the district to abide by the orders issued and remove the illegal structures at the earliest from along the NH-02 and Senapati river.
