Regular exercise stressed at World Health Day

Imphal, April 07 2025: Directorate of Health Services and National Health Mission, Manipur jointly observed World Health Day-2025 on the theme "Healthy beginnings, hopeful futures" at Sangai Hall of Hotel Imphal, North AOC on Monday.

The observance was attended by commissioner cum secretary (Health & Family Welfare) Sumant Singh, Health Services director Dr Chambo Gonmei, Family Welfare Services director Dr N Hemantakumar Singh and State Health Society, Manipur mission director Dr M Dinesh Singh as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.

Speaking on the occasion, Sumant stressed the importance of maintaining good health by consuming health food and exercising.

He continued that with close monitoring and efforts of the government, people especially those in faraway areas have access to proper health facilities.

These facilities are now on par with that of the other states, after overcoming the immense challenges for the same over the years.

He also lauded doctors, nurses and others in the healthcare field for their continuation and roles in improving health of the citizens.

For a healthy society, the government needs to continue establishing proper infrastructures.

In addition, the medical community has a huge role to play to prevent diseases and ensure the good health of the people, he stated.

As part of the observance, certificates were distributed to state nodal officers.
