Imphal, September 24 2023:
Kangla Transport Association (KTA), in a meeting held on Sunday, strongly condemned selective checking of passenger vehicles plying on Mayang Imphal Konchak-Bengool route by Mayang Imphal police.
Sunday's meeting was attended by local elder Md Sattar, Nonglaikang Transport Union president M Dineshwar and KTA secretary Thoudam Brojen as presidium members.
Addressing the congregation, Dineshwar asserted that the targeted checking of passenger vehicles plying along the route is creating serious inconvenience and wasting time of not only the public but also of the transport service providers.
He further asserted that the checking is not related with law-and-order issue or police related reasons while reminding that checking vehicles of documents should be the duty of motor vehicle department.
All the vehicles registered with the union are verified and checking of the documents by police through a targeted manner is uncalled for, he said, while drawing attention of SP Imphal West into the matter.
Brojen also aired the same view and demanded the police department to stop causing such unreasonable inconveniences as Md Sattar appealed to the police to stop such unwarranted checking of vehicle documents.
