Imphal, May 16 2024:
Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) accused the state government of aiding infiltration of cadres of a banned armed group based in Myanmar to exacerbate the ongoing ethnic unrest in Manipur which has heightened national security concerns.
In a release, KIM information and publicity secretary Janghaolun Haokip claimed that these militants, notorious for their ruthlessness pose imminent threat to regional security and stability.
KIM continued that in the ongoing strife in Manipur, Meetei armed groups have engaged in brutal killings.
As such, the ill-advised manoeuvre to infiltrate cadres of the armed group will worsen the law and order situation in the region and endanger the lives of innocent civilians while also posing a serious threat to the safety and security of the Kuki people.
KIM further called on the central government to immediately intervene and end alleged ill-conceived plan of the state government and incompetent security officials whose principle aim is to carry out further aggressions against the Kuki people.
"Similarly, it is ultimatum for the central government to bring about a permanent political solution to safeguard our people from incessant exploitation and persecution as equal citizens of the country and thereby also uphold the integrity of our nation," it further said.
