All Manipur Gorkha Students' Union (AMGSU) has urged health authorities concerned, municipal bodies, and local administrations to check rise in rabies cases in various parts of the state.
In a release, AMGSU stressed the importance for conducting mass vaccination drives of stray animals, ensuring availability of anti-rabies vaccines in all government health facilities, and initiating awareness campaigns to educate the public on preventive measures.
The Union also appealed to all dog owners to act responsibly by ensuring their pets are vaccinated against rabies and not letting them astray in public areas.
Vaccinating domestic animals is a crucial step in breaking the chain of transmission and protecting the community, it said, and called upon the public to report stray dog menace to local authorities and cooperate with health officials during vaccination drives to prevent aggravation of the situation.
