CorCom boycotts Republic Day

Imphal, January 21 2024: Alleging that the Republic Day of India (January 26) is a 'Repressive Day' for the people of Manipur (Kanglei-pak), the CorCom has boycotted the Republic Day.

A statement issued by the CorCom Publicity Committee appealed to all the people not to join the Republic Day celebration but hoist black flags and observe January 26 as black day.

The widespread violence seen today in Manipur and the resulting turmoil are outcomes of India's alleged regressive policy.

Under this regressive policy, indigenous people are deprived of land rights and national highways and international highways have been put under the complete control of 'ecocide communities' who have a tendency to destroy all forest areas, it said.

Apart from leasing out Kiyampok Lamjao to Burma (Myanmar) so as to earn annual revenue, the British colonial rulers divided the administration of the hill region from the valley region.

After the British colonial rulers left Manipur, Jawa-harlal Nehru transferred the ownership of Kiyampok Lamjao to the neighbouring country without consulting the people of Manipur as if it was his personal property, the CorCom said.

To divide the hill people and valley people, the Government of India, fully knowing that Manipur is a hill State, inserted Article 371-C in 1971 even before Manipur was granted statehood in 1972, it said.

It was under the British colonial rulers and the Government that the political boundary of Manipur shrank and the hill people and plain people were divided, it said.

The CorCom alleged that the Government of India has surrounded the Meiteis with over 70,000 Indian military personnel to help anti-Meitei mercenaries.

The situation is quite similar to the Gaza Strip where the Palestinians are surrounded by US and Israeli military syndicates and subjected to genocide, it remarked.

The ongoing war is not an ordinary war.

The communities who have been forcibly transformed into enemies would not have access to the propaganda support group, the huge funds and the weapons they are using now if they do not get support from India and some other countries, the CorCom alleged.

In order to face these strengthened groups, revolutionaries who are well trained need a coordinated strategy.

Marching in groups like in Hollywood films or show business and posting videos in social media would not serve any meaningful purpose.

It will only multiply casualties, it said.

It is time to understand why the war cannot be fought in the right direction even though there are enough number of armed people, the CorCom continued.

"Let us fight collectively against the armed mafia communities/groups by re-defining the ideology and objective of the war", it said.

On the other hand, Central forces have been acting as mute spectators when narco-armed groups attacked State forces.

The Kuki mercenary terrorists are able to kill many innocent civilians because they are given free hand by the Indian armed forces, it said.

The Government of India has been keeping the State Government as a mere 'democratic statue' so that the people can direct their anger and grievances against it.

The leaders of the State Government are politically dead, it alleged.

It further informed that the CorCom would impose an 18-hour total shutdown from January 25 midnight till 6 pm of January 26 .

However, religious functions, medical services and emergency services would not be covered by the total shutdown, it added.
