Imphal, April 08 2025:
The Enforcement Directorate (ED), Imphal has taken a significant step towards restitution of properties in a PMLA case involving Sanasam Jacky Singh and several officials of Lamjingba Group of Companies on the basis of 7 FIRs registered by Manipur Police.
Properties attached in the case may be auctioned for restitution, said ED in a press release.
Notably, ED investigation into the case had revealed that Lamjingba Group of Companies headed by Sanasam Jacky Singh were operating a fraudulent "investment/deposit scheme" that promised investors very high returns.
The companies cheated more than 15,000 investors of Rs 600 crore (approx).
The funds were used for acquisition of several properties.
Sanasam Jacky Singh was arrested in the case, followed by provisional attachment of movable and immovable properties to the tune of Rs 63.52 crore.
A prosecution complaint was filed in 2023 against Sanasam Jacky Singh, M Robindro Singh, Lamjingba Group Companies and others, and in the complaint, ED prayed for confiscation of the attached properties which also included an under construction Hotel property.
Meanwhile, a petition was filed with the High Court, wherein the Court directed the Special Court (PMLA), Imphal East to consider a claim of the petitioners (investors) asking for restoration of the properties belonging to the claimants, strictly in terms of the relevant provisions of law.
Subsequently, investors filed a petition before the PMLA Court, Imphal East praying for restoration of properties attached by auctioning the properties, and to restitute the same.
The ED in its reply supported the claim, and subsequently, Special Judge, PMLA, Imphal East passed an order on March 21, 2025 for publication in newspapers, inviting claims from investors.
