Imphal, January 19 2015:
Pointing out that misconduct of Ministers in the ruling Congress government in the State has led the public to reel under intense hardship; MLA of Andro Constituency, Th Shyamkumar has pledged that he will resign if Chief Minister O Ibobi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi do not provide assurance for rectification of wrongdoings of the Ministers at the earliest.
Addressing a press meet at his official residence on Monday, MLA Shyamkumar said that the case of dog-bite in Churachandpur and Andro is a serious matter which the government has ignored.
Residents of Andro are always the victims of electrocution and dog-bite.
But the government has turned a blind eye to it, he lamented.
He alleged that the outbreak of rabies in different parts of the State is due to the failure of Veterinary Department to function effectively while adding that the concerned Minister of the department has apparently failed to take up necessary steps to tackle the case of dog-bite which has claimed lives of many.
Observing that the outbreak of rabies could have been avoided if timely vaccination of domesticated animals had been done, the MLA said that the Veterinary Department is not fully equipped to tackle cases like outbreak of rabies.
"Even the Health Department is not functioning effectively which is evident from poor administration of the department.
Health Director in an indecent manner had telephoned me asking 'Where are you?' He also told me to accompany him to get anti-rabies vaccine,'' the MLA fumed.
He said that the Union Health Minister will be urged to take up action against the erring Director.
Stating that the IFCD Department instead of providing potable water to the people is busy in blocking Thoubal River, the MLA said that the department is unaware of adverse impact that would crop up from obstructing the river.
He went on to claim that all major government departments are not functioning in accordance to the wishes of the people and that the governance is there only for namesake.
"If Chief Minister and Prime Minister do not try to rectify the misconducts and wrongdoings then I am all set to resign from being an MLA in first week of April,'' MLA Shyamkumar vowed.
