Construction of Civil Secretarat at Chingmeirong is likely to miss the March 2015 dead set by the State Govt. However, efforts are put in place to ensure completion of the Secretariat by next year.
An independent assessment of the ongoing construction works of the Civil Secretariat conducted by The Sangai Express saw that the completion of the construction would be behind schedule.
Construction of the Civil Secretariat, located at the northern side of the High Court Complex, began in November 2010 as part of larger Capitol Complex.
A source from the Building Division of PWD said that 70 percent of the construction works are already completed.
The remaining incomplete portion of the work include pipeline laying, water supply, drainage system and the road.
The progress of the works has been frequently assessed by the State Govt officials.
March 2015 deadline was set for completion of the project.
However, it is unlikely that the whole works would be completed within just two months and 12 days.
Three-storeyed building each for the South and North Blocks, a Ministerial Block, and a room each for National Information Centre, Information Technology, Disaster Management are included in the newly constructed Secretariat.
The completion of the Civil Secretariat is expected to be behind schedule by one year.
Around 400 non-local labourers are presently engaged in the constructi on works.
Official's of the PWD also rued the absence of work culture among the local labourers.
Many local labourers were engaged in the construction.
However, most of them left the work site due to reasons best known to them.
Some left on the ground or pretext of family problems.
