Mock drills conducted at Kakching, Noney

Kakching/Noney, May 19 2025: To strengthen disaster preparedness and response mechanism, civil defencemock drills were carried out in Kakching and Noney district today.

In Kakching, the District Administration Kakching in collaboration with District Police, 28 Sector Assam Rifles, Indian Red Cross Society and District Level Government Departments conducted civil defence exercise and rehearsal under 'Operation Abhyaas' at the Deputy Commissioner's Office Complex in Kakching.

The mock drill was conducted in the presence of Rohit Anand, Deputy Commissioner, Kakching; Priyadarshini Laishram, Superintendent of Police; P Shantikumar, Additional District Magistrate; Kherdananda Potsangbam, SDO Kakching, U Chaitanya, SDO Waikhong; Binoy Chongtham, Additional SP (Ops), along with other District Level Officers.

The mock drill exercise simulated emergency like situations including sounding of air raid sirens, enforcement of blackout protocols, response to mock air raids and bomb threats.

Vital installations were camouflaged as part of the precautionary measures.

The simulation also included managing fire outbreaks, carrying out search and rescue operations, evacuation of casualties and the setup of a temporary hospital to treat the injured.

Meanwhile, at Noney civil defence mock drill was conducted today at Tengkonjang Higher Secondary School ground in Noney District headquarter.

The said mock drill was carried out jointly by the 19Assam Rifles, 86 BN CRPF, Noney police, students of Tengkonjang Higher Secondary School in the presence of Noney SP, Namsadai Peter Pamei, Noney ADC, Stiff Khapudang, Noney ZEO, Zavier Longmei, official of MSPDCL, medical staff and DLO's of various lines department.

During the drill, the Captain of the 19 AR, Dr Gaurav Garg demonstrated the gathering the different measures one has to take during the air raids such as fire fighting, casualty evacuation, emergency first aid, injuries and their management during the civil defence and black out mock drill.

Demonstration of smoke bombs, sounding of emergency siren, how to take the injured person safely to the nearest medical station and various measures to stay oneself safe and to protect others were also demonstrated during the drill.
