Imphal, July 11 2024:
After minister L Susindro condemned some "lying" mothers for calling out Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not speaking on the Manipur issue, mothers of Khwairamband Ima Keithel have categorically stated that the state cabinet should take a decision and ensure the minister pursue studies and learn about decorum.
On Thursday, Khwairamband Ima Keithel Joint Coordinating Committee for Peace staged a protest at the market, denouncing minister Susindro's alleged act of degrading the mothers of Manipur.
Speaking on the sidelines, Committee convenor Laishram Mema cautioned Susindro that anyone challenging the Manipuri mothers would not have a good life while reminding that it would be wrong to look down on the people just because one is sitting on a seat of power, as such power lasts only five years.
She continued that the Committee was not formed to curry favour or seek money from those in power, but to save the state.
Instead of thinking how to help the mothers amid the unrest situation in the state, it is regrettable that the minister is undermining efforts of the mothers.
The mothers take the matter with a grain of salt and will take an exact decision on the matter, she stated.
Chipping in, Committee co-convenor Y Iboyaima said that it would not be a good future for someone who berates the people while trying to divert or cover up lapses of the government.
He continued that while the centre may be able to fool the "naive" state government, the whole matter is crystal clear to the people.
It would be best for those in power to think that people could turn on them, he cautioned while asserting that any further attempts to look down on the people, more particularly the mothers, could lead to another nude protest by the mothers, which would definitely expose the hidden dealings of both the central and state governments.
