Imphal, April 08 2025:
Mother of Luwangthem Mukesh, who has been missing since mid-March, has filed a petition at Manipur High Court appealing for transfer of the case to the NIA and establishing his whereabouts.
Subsequently, JAC formed in connection with the missing of Luwangthem Mukesh suspended their sitin protest.
Speaking to media persons at Keishampat Leimajam Leikai community hall, JAC convenor Samurailatpam Sukadeva Sharma expressed grave concern that Luwangthem Mukesh, a student, who left home on March 16 is still missing.
While deploring failure by the authorities to trace the missing student, the convenor also noted public apprehension that no serious efforts are being made by the government authorities in the case due to resistance by the Kukis.
According to Sukadeva, Mukesh's mother Luwangthem Omila filed a petition at Manipur High Court on Monday appealing for locating the whereabouts of her missing child and transferring the case to NIA.
The convenor informed that JAC has also filed a complaint to National Human Rights Commission and conveyed that the movement will now proceed through legal channels.
Accordingly, the sit in protest launched from March 17 will be suspended, he declared.
