Two UGs nabbed, weapons recovered

Imphal, April 08 2025:
Security forces arrested two cadres of proscribed armed outfits and recovered weapons and ammunition during search operations conducted in different areas on Monday.
According to a release issued by Manipur Police Control Room, a cadre of the armed UPPK identified as Ningombam Ajitkumar Singh alias Khagemba (49) of Singjamei Khongnang Pheidekpi was arrested from Pebiya Pandit Leikai Meira shed and charged on involvement in extortion from public, private schools and colleges.
A two wheeler and a mobile phone were seized from him.
In another operation, a cadre of PREPAK identified as Thokchom Ningthem Meitei alias Lingjen (48) was rounded up from near Keirao Wangkhem TB hospital.
Meanwhile, security forces recovered one each AK 47 with magazine, 12 Bore SBBL gun and country made hand grenade, two .303 rifles with magazines and same number of rockets (8 feet), three rockets (5 feet), four AK 47 ammos and five country made mortar bombs along with other tactical gears from areas between Loilamkot and Nalon villages under Churachandpur police station.
Other weapons recovered include one each 5.56 mm INSAS rifle with magazine, .22 pistol with two magazines, bolt action rifle and short range projectile launcher; five each improvised mortars and Pull Mech rifles; and 10 mortar bombs from areas between N Boljang to Zero point under Kangpokpi district.
Security forces also recovered one each .303 LMG, .303 sniper rifle with magazine, 7.62 SLR rifle with two magazines, 12 Bore Single Barrel, 9 mm pistol with magazine, INSAS LMG magazine, .303 LMG barrel, tear gas gun, stun grenade, anti-riot shell empty box and empty ammunition box; two 12 bore ammos, three 36 HE hand grenades with arming ring, four each alum explosives and smoke grenades; five each SMG carbine magazines and 9mm ammos; six tube launchers, 55 rounds of 7.62 calibre, 39 rounds of .303 and 30 5.56 X 30 mm ammunition along with several casings and tactical gears from areas between Keirao Wangkhem village and Ngariyan hill range under Irilbung police station, it added.
