Imphal, May 30 2023: Representatives of different women's organisa-tions met union home minis-ter Amit Shah and Governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan here on Tuesday.

Interacting with the media after the meeting, Khwairam-band Nupi Keithel Sinfam Amadi Saktam Kanba Lup president Ksh Santi said that the union home minister as-sured that there is no question of bifurcation of the state and he will visit after 10 days to further review the situation.

Amit Shah also assured to end the blockade along the nation-al highway within a couple of days.

The women's organisations raised demands for NRC up-date, termination of So0 agreement with Kuki mili-tants, setting up of popula-tion commission, and also ex-pressed discontentment over the biased attitude of some of the central paramilitary forces deployed in the state, she said.

Snati further cautioned that despite the assurance of the union home minister, peo-ple of the state need to stay alert and fight the attacks on peripheral villages by armed Kuki militants.

This is not a time for the CM to resign from his post but he should mobilise all the MLAs and ministers, as well as CSOs from all commu-nities to control the violence and restore peace, she added.

According to AMKIL presi-dent Lourembam Nganbi, the present crisis in the state is not an effect of the ST de-mand raised by Meeteis.

The armed militants of Chin- Kuki community from across the border used the ST demand as an excuse to carry out their agenda of narco-terrorism and homeland target, she asserted.

Consequent upon a mara-thon meeting and in-depth discussion with Amit Shah, seven women leaders (Meira Paibi) and representatives of three Women Markets (Ima Keithels) of Imphal led by Poirei Leimarol president Lou-rembam Memchoubi met with Governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan on Thesday.

The women team urged the Governor to take immediate steps for restoring peace and normalcy in the violence hit state.

While expressing their grief over the prevailing cha-otic situation, the team also urged the Governor to take necessary steps to implement NRC for flushing out illegal immigrants from the state and immediate withdrawal of So0 agreement with Kuki UG outfits.

The representatives urged the Governor for providing adequate supply of essential items to the displaced people who are taking shelter in dif-ferent relief camps and to take steps for their resettlement and rehabilitation as early as possible.

They also requested the Governor for lifting ban on internet connectivity stating that the ban has hampered a lot in normal activities.

The Governor informed the team that all out efforts have been made to prevent untoward incidents further and reiterated that she has already kept the Union Home Minister informed in detail about the prevailing situation of the state while assuring the representatives all out efforts will be made to restore peace in the state.

The Governor appealed to all to reach out to the violence hit needy people and to ex-tend support for restoration of peace, normalcy and tran-quillity in the state.

Governor further informed that she will be visiting relief camps in different districts of Manipur.
