Good governance a year-long affair: Kamjong DC

In connection with the Good Governance Week' commencing from December 19, Kamjong district administration on Monday organised a workshop on Good Governance at the Camp Office of Deputy Commissioner, Kamjong located inside the 2nd MR Complex, Imphal.
The event, chaired by Kamjong DC Rangnamei Rang Peter, was held under the directive of the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pension.
Addressing the gathering, DC Peter informed that 'Good Governance Week' is celebrated every year from December 19 to 25 to honour former Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
The government of India paid tribute to the former Prime Minister by declaring his birthday (December 25) as 'Good Governance Day' .
During the week-long celebrations, various activities are taken up to demonstrate the government's commitment towards providing transparent, effective and accountable governance to the people of this country, the DC added.
Noting that transparency, accountability and timely and effective service delivery would be the first things towards good governance, he also called upon the gathering to focus on accessibility which is crucial in bringing good governance.
The DC further maintained that good governance is not to be celebrated only for a week but it has to be celebrated throughout the year and ensure that good governance is delivered to the public.
Peter then urged all the officials and staff of the district to work with honesty and sincerity, while also exhorting them to deal with the public in a cordial manner.
The function was attended by Kamjong SP Ningshem Vashum, SDOs, DLOs and other staff of the district administration.
